Its hard to believe that January has come and gone! It went so fast, we didn’t even manage a single January post.

We haven’t yet posted about Macey’s new skill: eating! She started solid foods and has been loving it ever since. Dr. Phil directed us to begin with orange veggies, then green veggies, then fruit. This picture is Macey’s first solid food experience:

We jumped at the opportunity to drive to Mesa and escape the bitter cold of Provo (but from what Benjamin says, Rexhole is much worse). In addition to the weather, we enjoyed spending time with Lincoln, Jonathan, Hillary, Mom, Dad, Grandparents, etc.

Macey is doing so well. She’s our little quacker, working on crawlling, sitting up, and playing with toys (she especially loves Seymore the cement mixer).

She still loves to snuggle with her mommy.

She’s just cute.

She’s getting chubby (17 lbs).

Brittney also has been trying out some new recipes, including this wonderful cake. I don’t remember the name-you’ll have to ask her if you want to know.

Today is December 31st, 2010. I figured that I should probably add one last blog posting to wrap up the year.

Brittney and I spent our first Christmas at home by ourselves this year. It was also Macey’s first Christmas-she was pretty excited I think (see pictures below). We were excited to start our own Christmas traditions and have a quiet little celebration with just the three of us.

For a while, Brittney and I couldn’t decide whether to have our feast on Christmas eve or Christmas day. It was decided, for whatever reasons, to have the dinner on Christmas eve. It was, like Thanksgiving, a wonderful feast. Brittney made another top notch turkey with rolls, potatoes, green beans, rockin-broccoli salad, gravy, stuffing, mom’s cranberry-nutty jello stuff, and some berry pie. We were even more excited to use a large red candle (previously forbidden to be lit) and the festive holiday plates that were purchased last year. At Thanksgiving, the cran jello stuff was okay, but Brittney tweaked the recipe a bit, added pomegranates, and it was perfect-so good!! That is one dish we will probably have every Christmas and Thanksgiving. Now that the feasts are over, time for me to lose weight.

On Christmas Eve, after our great feast (and cleanup), we put in the DVD “Its a Wonderful Life.” Very cliche, I know, but that will be one of our traditions. Every Christmas eve, I want to see good ole’ George Bailey find himself in a “very interesting situation.” I want to be reminded that there probably are angels similar to mom’s second favorite angel, Clarence ( I think her favorite is Gideon from a different movie). I want to see George run down the street, find his cut rate car smashed into a tree and shout for joy. During the movie, we worked on a puzzle that we recieved as a gift last year at Christmas. I say worked because we didn’t finish….until 4 days later or so. Obviously we didn’t work on it for 4 days straight, but it did take a long time. The oval shape didn’t help. I’m not sure if Christmas eve puzzles will be a tradition, but maybe they will…just not oval ones.

On Christmas morning, we awoke to a foot of perfect white snow. That’s a lie. Instead, it was gray and wet and dreary and overall, lame. But why should this year be any different? The past three Christmases have all been disappointing, at least weather-wise. It has been a long time since I’ve had the white Christmas I’ve dreamed of. Christmas day was wonderful nonetheless. We made some muffins before opening any gifts-I think that might have to be a tradition because they were good. Macey was pretty excited to see her little shoes full (as much as they could be) with goodies. She loved the ribbons. However, because she is only four months old, she got tuckered out pretty quick, and fell asleep. Brittney and I handled the unwrapping of the rest of her presents. I don’t think she minded too much. Santa brought her a bunch of cute clothes, books, and toys too.

Santa brought Brittney and I some fancy gifts as well. Among them was a festive red skirt, a shotgun, and a wii. Below is a picture of Brittney twirling her new skirt, me doing the same in a new shirt, and some other Christmas photos.
